Resilience is the key factor from now on and this is based on correct crop nutrition and continuing use of the right crop protection products. Strobilurins are well documented for their crop greening and physiological effects and recent studies have shown that Solatenol ( Elatus based products)  can not only improve greening as well but also reduces water losses by up to 5%. Stressed crops are far more susceptible to disease, especially Rusts in the current weather condition. With further losses of fungicide actives we will need to learn more about how to manipulate the health of the crop through nutrition and biostimulant chemistry. We have a major trial in place this year as part of a five year research project to see how best to tailor these products to your needs in the future.

With crop nutrition, testing has never been more important but if it is not possible to do this the key elements to bear in mind are,

Key crop protection products for application now.

SDHI – Elatus Plus mixtures – Reduction of water loss by up to 5%, improved greening.

Strobilurins – Comet, Amistar, Legate, Tazer – Enhances crop greening and reduces the production of stress chemicals in the plant.

Key Trace Element products for application now.

Manganese – Nitrate formulations such as Baf 420 Root 66 allow fast uptake of the Mn or Mn Ultra as carbonate which is a slow release product and a very safe tank mix partner – Mn allows leaf wax and water retention in the plant.

Potassium – Headland Kuros - For water regulation and drought tolerance

Magnesium – Nitrate formulations such as Root 66 allow fast uptake of the Mg and Mn, while the  Hi Mag  Maxi Phi also contains auxins which act as minor biostimulants -  Key for chlorophyll production and greenness.

With current cereal prices we need to do all we can to preserve yield and quality.

At the moment every little helps to preserve crop health and yield.
